ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking to understand how certain amino acids in saliva—specifically glycine, proline, lysine, and alanine—relate to dental caries, which are cavities caused by tooth decay. The study will compare the saliva of healthy children who have cavities to those who do not, in order to see if these amino acids can help predict whether a child is likely to develop cavities in the future.
To participate in this study, children aged 8 to 10 years old with different levels of cavities may be eligible, as long as they do not have gum disease or any other health issues, and are not currently using braces or taking certain medications. The trial is not yet recruiting participants, but once it starts, children who join will provide saliva samples, which will be used to measure the levels of these amino acids and help researchers learn more about their role in dental health.
