ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is examining how the level of a protein called serum albumin in the blood relates to the severity of hepatic encephalopathy (HE) in patients with chronic liver disease. Hepatic encephalopathy is a condition that affects brain function due to liver problems. The researchers want to understand if lower levels of serum albumin might mean more severe symptoms and how this could impact the overall health and recovery of patients.
To participate in this study, individuals must be over 18 years old and have a confirmed diagnosis of chronic liver disease along with hepatic encephalopathy. They should also be able to provide consent for themselves. However, people with certain conditions, such as acute liver failure, chronic kidney failure requiring dialysis, pregnant women, or those with active cancer, cannot join. If eligible, participants can expect to undergo assessments related to their liver function and may contribute to important findings that could help improve care for others with similar conditions. The trial is currently recruiting participants of all genders between the ages of 18 and 74.
