ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a special amino acid supplement designed for people with Parkinson's disease. The researchers want to find out if this supplement can help improve nutrition without affecting the medications used to treat Parkinson's, specifically dopamine medications. They will compare this targeted supplement to a regular store-bought protein drink and an inactive supplement to see which one helps with nutrition levels and overall well-being, including mood and movement abilities.
To be eligible for this study, participants need to be at least 55 years old and have a diagnosis of Parkinson's disease. They should have been taking dopamine replacement medication, like levodopa, for at least two years and be on a stable dose for the past three months. If you join the trial, you will attend four visits over four weeks where you will drink one of the supplements, have blood samples taken, and go through assessments related to mood and movement. After each visit, you'll also have a phone call to check in on how you’re feeling. The study is not yet recruiting participants, so there’s still time to learn more if you think you might be interested!
