ClinConnect Summary
The ENACT Program is a clinical trial designed to explore how combining hearing and cognitive training can help people with both mild cognitive impairment and hearing loss. Researchers believe that improving hearing might also positively affect thinking skills and overall quality of life. The study will involve 62 participants who will be recruited from community centers and will include individuals with mild cognitive impairment and at least one side of hearing loss. To qualify, participants should have a smartphone, not have received any formal training for their hearing or thinking skills in the past six months, and have a family member available to support them.
Participants in the trial can expect to take part in a 12-week program that includes health counseling, group training for both hearing and thinking skills, and family engagement activities to enhance communication. The study aims to assess changes in hearing abilities, cognitive function, and overall health-related quality of life through evaluations at the start, after 12 weeks, and again after 18 weeks. This trial is not yet recruiting, but it represents an important step in understanding how integrated training can support individuals facing both cognitive and hearing challenges.
