ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is looking at a surgical technique for removing a mass from the chest area, specifically using video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS). During this procedure, one lung is temporarily deflated to get a clear view of the area, but this can make it harder for the body to get enough oxygen. The trial will test a method called end-inspiratory pause (EIP), which pauses breathing at the end of inhalation. This may help improve how well oxygen and carbon dioxide are exchanged in the body, making the surgery safer and more effective.

To participate in this trial, you need to be an adult aged between 20 and 80 who is scheduled for this specific type of surgery and classified as having mild to severe systemic disease. However, individuals with certain lung conditions or other specific health issues will not be eligible. If you join the trial, you’ll have the chance to contribute to research that could improve surgical outcomes for future patients undergoing similar procedures.
