ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called BMEM HLA, is looking to understand how different experiences, like pregnancy or previous organ transplants, affect certain immune cells in patients who are waiting for a kidney transplant. Specifically, the researchers want to learn about memory B cells that react to human leukocyte antigens (HLA), which are proteins that can trigger an immune response in transplant recipients. The study will involve five groups of patients, each with different experiences related to sensitization, to see how these factors might influence the type and behavior of these immune cells after the transplant.
To participate in this study, you need to be an adult candidate for kidney transplantation at CHU de Bordeaux and have a specific sensitivity to class I HLA due to one of the following: a previous transfusion, pregnancy, or a past kidney transplant. Unfortunately, children, people who have had certain recent treatments or infections, and those with specific health issues cannot join. The trial is not yet recruiting participants, but when it starts, you can expect to contribute to important research that could help improve kidney transplant outcomes for many patients in the future.
