ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how well pelvic floor muscle training (PFMT) works for transmasculine patients who are undergoing a type of surgery called metoidioplasty. The goal is to find out if these patients find PFMT helpful for managing lower urinary tract symptoms, which can include issues like frequent urination, urgency, or trouble starting to urinate. The researchers will be asking about participants' experiences with PFMT through questionnaires and other assessments during the study.
To participate in this trial, patients need to be at least 18 years old, have been living as their gender identity for at least 12 months, and must be receiving testosterone therapy for over a year. They should also be referred for surgery and undergoing metoidioplasty or phalloplasty. Participants can expect to share their thoughts and experiences regarding PFMT, helping researchers understand its acceptability and effectiveness in this specific group. The study is set to begin recruiting participants in 2025 and will involve about 50 individuals.
