ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how a specific type of stimulation, called peripheral somatosensory stimulation, can help improve muscle strength in the legs of people who have had a stroke. After a stroke, the brain can struggle to communicate with the muscles, which can make movement difficult. This trial aims to see if applying mechanical pressure to the legs can help the brain get better information about those muscles, potentially helping stroke survivors regain strength and improve their movement.
To be eligible for this study, participants must be between the ages of 65 and 74 and have had a stroke that affects one side of their body, confirmed by medical imaging. They should be at least three months post-stroke and able to stand or walk, even if they need some assistance. However, individuals with certain health conditions, like serious heart problems or recent orthopedic surgeries on the legs, cannot participate. Those who join the study can expect to receive targeted stimulation to help enhance their muscle strength, which may play a role in their recovery journey.
