ClinConnect Summary
The Neuroimmunology Registry and Biobank is a clinical trial that aims to understand the role of certain antibodies found in the cerebrospinal fluid (the fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord) of patients with various neurological disorders. These disorders include conditions like encephalopathy (brain dysfunction), psychosis, epilepsy, and movement disorders. The researchers want to find out if these antibodies are more common in these diseases than previously thought and whether they are important for causing these conditions or if they are just a byproduct of inflammation in the brain. They will collect and analyze samples from many patients to answer these questions.
Anyone who might be experiencing unclear neurological symptoms, where a lumbar puncture (a procedure to collect cerebrospinal fluid) is needed for further diagnosis, may be eligible to participate in this study. Participants of all ages and genders are welcomed, as long as they can provide a small additional sample of cerebrospinal fluid. By joining this trial, participants can help researchers learn more about these antibodies and how they relate to their conditions, which could lead to better treatment options in the future.
