ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying two different methods to prevent a condition called venous thromboembolism (VTE) in patients who are in the intensive care unit (ICU). VTE can be a serious problem where blood clots form in the veins, and it is especially common in critically ill patients. The researchers want to compare a treatment called Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy (PEMF) with traditional mechanical methods that help prevent blood clots. This study is important because some patients may not be able to take blood-thinning medications, and understanding the effectiveness of PEMF could provide a new option for prevention.
To participate in this trial, patients need to be over 18 years old and currently in the ICU with a specific risk score indicating they are at high risk for blood clots. They should not be able to use blood-thinning medications, or they may need a combination of both medication and mechanical methods. Participants will receive either the PEMF treatment or the standard mechanical prevention method during their ICU stay. The study is currently recruiting, and all genders are welcome to join. If you or someone you know meets these criteria, this trial may offer a chance to contribute to important medical research while receiving care.
