ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how lung health changes in patients with moderate or severe Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) while they are on a ventilator. Researchers want to see how lung ultrasound images and a special technique called electrical impedance tomography (EIT) can help understand these changes better, especially during a process called PEEP titration, which helps adjust the support given by the ventilator. The trial will also look at how well the diaphragm (a muscle that helps with breathing) is working and measure certain biological markers to see if they can predict complications related to breathing support.
To participate in this trial, you need to be an adult over 18 years old who has been intubated and on a ventilator for more than 24 hours due to moderate or severe ARDS. Unfortunately, if you have any implanted electronic devices, are pregnant, or cannot provide consent, you won't be able to join. If enrolled, you can expect to undergo various assessments that will help develop better tools for predicting how patients can be weaned off ventilators more successfully. The trial is currently not recruiting participants yet, but it aims to improve care for patients with ARDS in the future.
