ClinConnect Summary
The PATHS-UP trial is studying a new mobile app designed to help Hispanic adolescents aged 12 to 18 manage their health by focusing on important lifestyle habits like physical activity, sleep, and nutrition. This is particularly important because Hispanic youth in the U.S. are at a higher risk for type 2 diabetes (T2D) and related health problems. The app will allow participants to track their daily activities, sleep patterns, and eating habits, helping them to develop healthier routines over a 30-day period.
To join the study, participants need to identify as Hispanic or Latino, be between 12 and 18 years old, and have a body mass index (BMI) in the 85th to 95th percentile, indicating they are overweight. They also must own an iPhone. However, teens who are already part of another health program or who have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes cannot participate. If eligible, participants can expect to use the app regularly while receiving support to improve their health behaviors. This trial is a great opportunity to explore how technology can help young people lead healthier lives.
