ClinConnect Summary
The Weyera Mental Health Pilot Intervention is a study designed to help young people of Ethiopian and Eritrean descent improve their mental health and resilience. Researchers have found that many youth in these communities experience issues like depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). This trial will test a group program that aims to support mental wellness in a culturally relevant way. Before launching a larger study, the team wants to see if this program is acceptable, safe, and practical for participants.
To be eligible for this study, participants should be between 18 and 29 years old, identify as Ethiopian and/or Eritrean, and live in the Atlanta area. They should also be able to read and understand English and be willing to attend weekly sessions for two hours over eight weeks. If you join, you can expect to engage in group activities and complete some surveys to help researchers understand the program's impact. The trial is not yet recruiting participants, but it’s an important step toward improving mental health support for young people in these communities.
