ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the connection between epilepsy and psychotic disorders, which can include symptoms like hallucinations and delusions. The researchers want to find out if certain emotional symptoms during seizures are linked to a higher risk of developing these psychotic symptoms. They are particularly interested in understanding how the level of awareness during seizures might affect this risk.
To be eligible for the study, patients need to be adults who have been hospitalized in the video-EEG unit for an epilepsy evaluation and have also undergone a psychiatric assessment between January 1, 2016, and April 1, 2025. Participants will not need to make any extra visits or provide new information; instead, the study will use data already in their medical records, while ensuring their privacy by not collecting any identifying information. This trial aims to improve the understanding of how epilepsy and mental health issues are related, ultimately helping doctors provide better care for patients with epilepsy.
