ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new way to predict the risk of falls in older adults living in the community, specifically those aged 65 and older. Falls are common among this age group, affecting about 23% to 34% of them each year. The researchers aim to improve fall prevention by using a new, comprehensive screening tool that will help identify individuals who are at higher risk for falls. They will compare the effectiveness of this new method with existing practices in Belgium to see how well it works.
To participate, you must be 65 years or older, live independently, and be able to walk on your own, possibly with a walking aid. Those who have had surgery in the last six months or have worsening health issues related to existing conditions will not be eligible. Participants will complete a one-time assessment that includes answering questions about their health and completing some physical tests. After this, they will keep a monthly calendar to track if they fall. This information will help researchers understand how well the new prediction tool works.
