ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new self-assessment tool called the Self-Assessment for Falls in the Elderly (SAFE) questionnaire. The goal is to see if this simple questionnaire can effectively identify the risk of falls in adults aged 60 and older, just as well as the current method that requires a healthcare professional to conduct tests and ask questions. The trial will involve about 300 participants who will fill out the SAFE questionnaire and then undergo some quick physical tests under supervision. By comparing the results from the SAFE and the traditional assessment, researchers hope to improve fall risk screening for older adults.
To be eligible for the study, participants must be at least 60 years old, be able to walk and maintain their balance for at least a month, and be able to complete the questionnaire and physical tests. Those who can’t answer the questions due to other conditions or who refuse to participate will be excluded. Participants can expect to receive immediate feedback on their fall risk and personalized advice to help prevent falls. This study is important because it could lead to a more accessible and cost-effective way for older adults to assess their fall risk, ultimately helping to keep them safe and healthy.
