ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial aims to help families of young adults who are dealing with psychosis and heavy cannabis use. The researchers want to create a program that teaches family members better communication skills so they can support their loved ones in reducing cannabis use. They will first test this program with a small group of 10 family members, gather their feedback, and then run a larger pilot study with 40 participants to see how well the program works. The goal is to improve family communication, reduce stress for caregivers, and ultimately help young adults use less cannabis.
To participate in this study, family members need to be at least 18 years old and have a loved one who is receiving treatment for a first episode of psychosis and has used cannabis frequently in the past month. It's important that they spend at least 10 hours a week with this person. Participants should be comfortable using Zoom for meetings and able to read study materials in English. The trial is not yet recruiting, but it could be a valuable opportunity for families looking for support in managing cannabis use and improving communication within the family.
