ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at a new program called Helping Hand, which is designed to help people with hand osteoarthritis manage their symptoms better. The main goal of the study is to see if it’s practical to run a larger trial later on to test how effective this program will be. During this trial, participants will either have access to the Helping Hand program online or continue with their usual care for 12 weeks. They’ll also visit the clinic or complete online assessments every four weeks and keep a diary of their symptoms and any other treatments they use, like painkillers.
To join the trial, participants need to be aged between 65 and 74, have a diagnosis of hand osteoarthritis with pain for at least three months, and be comfortable using a smartphone, tablet, or computer. They must also be able to communicate in English. However, people with neurological disorders, dementia, or who have scheduled hand surgery in the next three months won't be eligible. This study is an important step in understanding how to create a successful program that could help many people in the future.
