ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how to better diagnose infections in patients who are on hemodialysis and have sepsis, which is a serious infection that can spread throughout the body. The researchers want to find out which method of collecting blood samples is the most accurate for detecting infections—whether it's from a central line (a tube placed in a large vein), the dialysis machine, or a regular vein. They will also look at how a hormone called parathyroid hormone (PTH) behaves during infections to see if changes in its levels can help predict how well patients will do after an infection.
To be eligible for this trial, participants need to be adults over 18 who are receiving hemodialysis and are hospitalized with sepsis. They must also be able to give consent to join the study. If you participate, you can expect to provide blood samples from different sources and have your hormone levels monitored. This research could lead to better ways to monitor and treat infections in dialysis patients, ultimately improving their care and outcomes.
