ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how an AI chatbot can help improve the emotional wellbeing of university students in Singapore who may be experiencing mild feelings of anxiety and depression. The researchers want to find out if the chatbot can provide support and make students feel understood, as well as if it can help reduce their anxiety and depression symptoms better than a control group that will engage in neutral writing tasks. Participants will take part in four 20-minute sessions with the chatbot or do four writing activities, and then they will complete questionnaires to evaluate their emotional health before and after the sessions.
To join the study, participants need to be full-time undergraduate students at the National University of Singapore, aged 21 or older, and comfortable speaking English. They should not be receiving any psychological treatment or medication and must have low scores on two specific questionnaires that measure anxiety and depression. All sessions will be held virtually over Zoom, making it easy for students to participate from wherever they are. The findings from this trial could help develop better AI tools for emotional support in everyday settings.
