ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at a new way to help parents support the development of premature infants or very low birth weight infants who have experienced brain damage. The study wants to see if using a video system can effectively guide parents in providing early therapy at home, after their baby has been discharged from the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Parents will receive training through video sessions with a therapist twice a week for about 30 minutes. They will also record their practice sessions on their smartphones, which the therapist will review to give feedback and set new goals for the baby's development.
To participate in this study, infants must be born before 32 weeks of pregnancy or weigh less than 1500 grams at birth and have a corrected age of under one month. They should also have brain damage confirmed by imaging tests. However, infants with severe health issues, genetic disorders, or significant vision or hearing problems will not be eligible. Throughout the trial, participants will be monitored closely for safety, and parents will be supported in tracking their baby's progress. This approach aims to ensure that families receive the guidance they need to help their infants thrive during such a critical time in their early development.
