ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at two types of cataract surgery — femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery (FLACS) and conventional phacoemulsification surgery (CPS) — to see which one works better for patients with a specific eye condition called Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy (FECD) complicated by cataracts. The study aims to find out if FLACS helps preserve important cells in the eye better than CPS and how both methods affect vision quality and corneal health over time.
To participate in this study, you must be at least 40 years old, diagnosed with moderate to severe FECD, and scheduled for cataract surgery. Patients will undergo several eye tests before surgery to check their vision and the health of their corneas. After the surgery, there will be follow-up visits at various times to monitor recovery and outcomes. This trial aims to gather valuable information to help doctors choose the best surgical approach for patients with these eye conditions.
