ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying different sizes of tracheal catheters used during thyroid surgery to see if smaller sizes can help reduce sore throats in women after the procedure. The trial involves 180 women aged 18 to 65 who are scheduled for thyroid surgery under general anesthesia. Participants will be divided into three groups, each using a different size of catheter: 6.0mm, 6.5mm, or the traditional 7.0mm. Researchers will check how many women experience a sore throat and how severe it is at various times after surgery, such as 1 hour, 6 hours, 24 hours, and 48 hours later.
To be eligible for this trial, women must be in good health (ASA grade I-III), have a body mass index (BMI) under 35, and provide their consent to participate. However, those with certain conditions, like chronic throat issues or recent infections, will not be included. Participants can expect to provide information about their recovery and any discomfort they experience after surgery, helping researchers understand which catheter size might be best for minimizing sore throat after thyroid surgery.
