ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how certain metal elements in the body might be related to a painful condition called Radiotherapy-Induced Oral Mucositis (RIOM) that many patients face when undergoing treatment for head and neck tumors. RIOM can cause significant discomfort, making it difficult for patients to continue their treatment and affecting their overall quality of life. The researchers aim to better understand the connection between these metal elements and the severity of RIOM, hoping to find ways to predict who might develop this condition and how severe it may be.

To participate in this study, individuals must be between 18 and 75 years old, have been diagnosed with nasopharyngeal carcinoma or other head and neck tumors, and are planning to receive radiotherapy. They should be in generally good health, without serious other health issues that could complicate treatment. If you join this trial, you will be monitored closely to see how metal levels in your body change during radiotherapy and how that relates to any oral issues you may experience. This research could lead to better strategies for preventing and treating RIOM in the future.
