ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at a surgical procedure called unilateral posterior wedge closing vertebral column resection (VCR) to treat adolescents with a condition known as congenital kyphoscoliosis. This condition causes an abnormal curvature of the spine that is present from birth. The study will analyze the outcomes of this surgery in 12 teenagers over an average follow-up period of about 2.9 years. The goal is to see how well this surgery works in improving their spinal condition.
To participate in this trial, candidates must be over 10 years old and have a diagnosis of congenital kyphoscoliosis, with no history of spinal surgery. They should also be able to provide preoperative imaging results and have data from a follow-up visit two years after the surgery. Unfortunately, those who have other types of scoliosis or have had previous spinal surgery are not eligible. It’s important to note that this trial is not currently recruiting participants, but it aims to gather valuable information on the effectiveness of this surgical approach for treating a challenging spinal condition.
