ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new approach called the FAM-ICU intervention, which focuses on improving care for patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and supporting their families. The goal is to see if this approach can help reduce issues like confusion (delirium), anxiety, and stress that both patients and their family members often experience during and after an ICU stay. The trial will involve 30 adult patients who are expected to stay in the ICU for at least 48 hours, along with their close family members.
Participants will be divided into two groups: one group will receive standard care, while the other will receive the FAM-ICU intervention, which includes better communication and support from the healthcare team. Families and patients will be asked about their experiences through surveys and interviews. This study is important because it will help researchers understand how well the FAM-ICU approach works and if it can be expanded for a larger trial in the future. If you or a loved one is an adult who might need to stay in the ICU, you could be eligible to take part in this study.
