ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is focused on developing a new way to monitor how the spine and limbs move using wearable flexible sensors. This is important because many older adults in China suffer from spinal diseases that can limit their daily activities and lead to disability. Currently, doctors primarily use imaging techniques like X-rays to evaluate these conditions, but these methods don't capture how patients move in their everyday lives. By using these new sensors, the researchers hope to get a better understanding of how spinal diseases progress and how they affect daily functioning.
To participate in this study, individuals aged 65 to 74 with specific spinal conditions, such as spinal cord injury, cervical spondylotic myelopathy, kyphosis, and scoliosis, may be eligible. However, those with obesity, certain neuromuscular disorders, or who cannot complete assessments due to their health conditions will not be included. Participants can expect to wear the sensors and undergo assessments that will later be compared to traditional imaging techniques, helping to pave the way for better understanding and treatment of spinal diseases in aging populations.
