ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is exploring the use of magnesium sulfate injections to treat myofascial pain syndrome, which is a condition that causes pain in muscles and can create painful "trigger points" in areas like the jaw and neck. Participants will be randomly placed into two groups: one group will receive injections in the jaw muscle, while the other group will be treated in both the jaw and neck muscles. Each participant will get a small injection of magnesium sulfate in specific areas, and their pain levels will be measured at different times over the next six months to see how effective the treatment is.

To be eligible for this trial, participants should be between the ages of 65 and 74 and must have a clear diagnosis of myofascial pain with at least one painful trigger point in the jaw or neck. They should not have had any invasive procedures on the jaw or have other painful conditions affecting the face. Additionally, individuals who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have certain health issues that affect chewing are not eligible. This trial is not yet recruiting participants, but it aims to help find better ways to relieve pain for those affected by this condition.
