ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying whether adding virtual reality (VR) experiences to a cognitive training program can help improve thinking skills in older adults with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). The study will involve participants aged 60 and older who have been diagnosed with MCI and can perform daily activities independently. Over 12 weeks, participants will attend sessions twice a week, where they will engage in computer-based cognitive exercises. One group will also spend 15-20 minutes using VR at the end of each session. Researchers will assess changes in attention, memory, and thinking skills through standard tests and gather feedback on the VR experience.
To participate in this trial, individuals must be 60 years or older, have a MoCA score (which measures cognitive ability) between 18 and 26, and be able to use a computer interface, even with help. Those with a diagnosis of dementia, severe sensory impairments, certain medical conditions, or who are currently in other cognitive training programs will not be eligible. This research aims to explore new ways to support cognitive health in older adults, and participants can expect to be part of a supportive environment focused on enhancing their cognitive abilities.
