ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new support program designed for adolescents and young adults (AYAs) between the ages of 16 and 30 who have just been diagnosed with cancer. The goal is to help these young patients manage their feelings and challenges during this difficult time. The program includes an initial meeting with a special team called "Team Young," who will talk to the participants about their needs and offer them a structured program called Promoting Resilience in Stress Management (PRISM). This program has been shown to help improve mental wellness, hope, and overall quality of life for young cancer patients based on previous studies in the U.S.
To participate, individuals must be newly diagnosed with cancer and able to speak and understand Swedish. They should also be referred to the program by their nurse. However, those with any significant mental health issues or cognitive difficulties are not eligible. Participants will complete questionnaires at the start of the program, after going through four sessions, and again six months later to track their progress. The results will help determine if PRISM should become a standard support option for AYAs diagnosed with cancer in hospitals across Sweden.
