ClinConnect Summary
This study tests whether a cancer-screening education program, delivered both in person and online with a booklet, can improve women’s knowledge about screening and their attitudes toward it, as well as their level of shyness about participating in screening. It includes women aged 50–65 who are literate and have a smartphone, with no cognitive, visual, or orthopedic disabilities. Participants are randomly assigned to either receive the training (two short sessions plus reminders) or to a control group that does not receive the training right away. The researchers will measure knowledge about cancer screening, attitudes toward screening, and shyness at the start and again up to about four weeks later.
If you take part, you’ll first complete some questionnaires, then be randomly placed into either the training group or the control group. For the training group, there will be two brief sessions (one week apart), a reminder phone call about two weeks after the second session, and a post-training phone interview about four weeks after registration. The control group will complete the same questionnaires and then receive an educational booklet after the study period. The study is being conducted at Inönü University in Malatya, Turkey, and findings will help clinicians understand whether education can boost knowledge, improve attitudes, and reduce barriers to cancer screening.
