ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating the presence of Toxoplasma gondii, a parasite that may be linked to certain brain disorders like epilepsy and ADHD in children. Researchers want to find out how common this parasite is among children diagnosed with these neuropsychiatric conditions in Sohag, Egypt. The study will check for specific antibodies in the blood that indicate exposure to the parasite, which could help understand its potential role in these disorders.
To participate in this trial, children aged up to 5478 who have been diagnosed with epilepsy or ADHD may be eligible. However, children with certain medical conditions, such as those who have had brain surgery, experienced head injuries, or have specific diseases affecting their immune system, will not be included. If eligible, participants can expect to provide a blood sample for testing. This study aims to shed light on how Toxoplasma gondii might influence brain health and behavior, which could lead to better understanding and treatment options for affected children.
