ClinConnect Summary
The Scandinavian Displaced Lateral Clavicle Trial is a research study looking into the best way to treat certain types of clavicle fractures, specifically those that are displaced and occur at the outer end of the collarbone. The trial will compare two treatment methods: one that involves surgery and another that relies on non-surgical care, to see if the non-surgical option is just as effective. This study is important because it could help doctors determine whether surgery is always necessary for this type of injury.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be adults who have a specific type of clavicle fracture known as a type II or V fracture based on a classification system. Unfortunately, those with certain conditions—like open fractures, severe injuries, or who can't give consent—won't be able to participate. If you join the study, you can expect to receive either the surgical treatment or the non-surgical care, and you will be closely monitored throughout the process to see how well the treatments work. The trial is not yet recruiting participants, but it aims to gather important information that could improve care for patients with these types of fractures in the future.
