ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying whether a medication called tranexamic acid can help reduce blood loss after a specific type of surgery known as orthognathic surgery, which is often done to correct jaw and facial irregularities. In this trial, doctors will compare two different solutions used during the surgery: one side of the jaw will receive a solution that includes tranexamic acid, while the other side will receive a standard solution without it. The main goal is to see if using tranexamic acid can lower the amount of blood lost during and after the surgery.
To participate in this trial, patients need to be between 18 and 50 years old and scheduled for orthognathic surgery. They should be in generally good health (classified as ASA physical status I or II), meaning they have no serious health issues. However, people with certain conditions, such as a history of blood clotting disorders or those taking specific blood-thinning medications, will not be eligible to participate. This study is not yet recruiting participants, but it aims to help doctors understand better ways to manage blood loss during this kind of surgery, which could improve recovery for patients.
