ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at whether home-based cardiac rehabilitation, using remote monitoring devices, can help patients improve their exercise ability after surgery for heart valve diseases. Researchers want to see how this at-home approach compares to traditional rehabilitation at a medical facility. They will also explore what factors might affect how well patients do with remote rehabilitation. All participants will start with some initial rehab in the hospital, and then those in the home-based group will continue their recovery using a special online program and devices to monitor their heart health.
To be eligible for this study, participants must be having their first surgery for a heart valve issue, like replacing or repairing a valve. They should also be willing to join the study. The trial is open to all genders and is focused on patients aged 65 to 75. During the study, participants will be assessed on their exercise capacity at different times: before surgery, after each phase of rehabilitation, and one month after leaving the hospital. This trial aims to find out if home rehab can be just as effective as in-person care and to understand more about how different factors might influence recovery.
