ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying factors that can affect the quality of samples taken during a procedure called Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA), which is used to assess thyroid nodules. Thyroid nodules are lumps in the thyroid gland, and while most are benign (not cancer), a small percentage can be cancerous. The trial aims to understand why some FNA samples are deemed inadequate for diagnosis, which can lead to unnecessary repeat procedures and added discomfort for patients.
To participate in this trial, individuals must be referred for an FNA of specific types of thyroid nodules. However, those who have had thyroid treatment before the FNA will not be eligible. Participants can expect to contribute to important research that may help improve the accuracy of thyroid assessments and potentially reduce the need for repeat procedures. This trial is not yet recruiting participants, but it is an essential step towards better understanding and improving how thyroid nodules are evaluated.
