ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how people who have lost a limb (amputees) perceive their bodies, especially when they use prosthetic limbs. Researchers want to understand if and how the way amputees see their body changes compared to people who have not lost a limb. They will also look at how this body perception might relate to skills like thinking, decision-making, and understanding space visually. The study aims to answer important questions about the differences in body perception and cognitive abilities between amputees and a healthy control group.
To be eligible for the trial, amputees must be between 18 and 65 years old, have been using a prosthesis for at least six months, and have completed at least primary school. They should also be able to focus on tasks for a while and score above a certain level on a mental state test. A similar group of healthy individuals will also be recruited to match the amputees in age, gender, and education. Participants can expect to take part in various assessments, including tests that measure cognitive skills and visual perception. It’s important to note that individuals with specific conditions, such as congenital amputations or certain neurological issues, will not be included in the study.
