ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating whether acupuncture can help reduce pain and improve the overall experience for men undergoing a specific type of prostate biopsy called a transperineal prostate biopsy. In this study, participants will be randomly assigned to receive either real acupuncture or a placebo (sham acupuncture) before their biopsy, alongside regular local anesthesia to numb the area. Researchers will measure pain levels during the procedure using a simple scale, and they will also look at other factors such as anxiety, satisfaction with the procedure, and any side effects.
To participate in this trial, men must be scheduled for a transperineal prostate biopsy and be willing to sign a consent form. However, individuals who have allergies to acupuncture, need sedation, have had acupuncture before, or suffer from severe mental health issues may not be eligible. If you or someone you know is considering joining this trial, it could be a great opportunity to explore a complementary approach to pain management during a prostate biopsy, while also contributing to important research in this area.
