ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying whether a special monitoring system called the Integrated Pulmonary Index (IPI) can help reduce the risk of low oxygen levels (hypoxemia) during painless colonoscopies in older patients. The trial will compare two groups: one group will have their IPI monitored continuously, while the other group will not use this system. The goal is to see if continuous monitoring can help doctors respond more quickly to any drops in oxygen levels during the procedure.
To participate in this trial, individuals must be at least 65 years old and scheduled for a painless colonoscopy without needing to be intubated (a tube placed in the throat for breathing support). Participants should be mentally alert and able to consent to the study. During the procedure, those in the monitoring group will have their oxygen and other vital signs checked regularly, and the medical team will take specific actions if the IPI indicates a need for extra support. This trial is important because it aims to improve the safety of colonoscopy procedures for elderly patients.
