ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how quickly food leaves the stomach after eating, specifically in healthy individuals and those using a medication called GLP-1 agonists, which is often prescribed for type 2 diabetes and weight management. The researchers want to see if a breakfast that includes high-fat foods, like avocado and eggs, affects the stomach’s emptying speed compared to a regular meal without these foods. They also want to find out if drinking clear liquids for 18 to 24 hours is enough time for the stomach to be considered "empty" in patients taking GLP-1 agonists.
To participate in this study, you need to be at least 18 years old and either a healthy volunteer or someone using semaglutide (a type of GLP-1 agonist). However, if you have had certain surgeries, like bariatric surgery, or have specific health issues, you may not be eligible. Participants will undergo an ultrasound to check how their stomach is working before eating a standardized breakfast, and then they will be monitored with ultrasound at regular intervals after the meal. This study is not yet recruiting participants, but it aims to gather valuable information that could help improve our understanding of stomach function related to food intake.
