ClinConnect Summary
The ENERGY2MOB study is looking at a program designed to help adults in the Berguedà region manage their weight and improve their health. This program combines healthy eating, exercise, and support for emotional well-being to help people lose 5-10% of their body weight and reduce their risk of diseases like diabetes and high blood pressure. The study will involve two groups of participants over a year—one group will follow the program, while the other will not, allowing researchers to compare the results.
To participate, you need to be an adult between 18 and 65 years old with a body mass index (BMI) indicating you are overweight or obese. You'll need to commit to attending at least 80% of the group sessions. If you have difficulties communicating in Catalan or Spanish, have had weight-loss surgery in the past, or have certain mental health issues, you may not be eligible. Participants can expect to learn more about healthy eating, exercise, and managing emotional eating while receiving support from others in the group. The findings from this study aim to create helpful resources for healthcare providers to better support individuals struggling with weight management.
