ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying two types of nerve blocks, called the Pericapsular Nerve Group (PENG) block and the Femoral Nerve Block (FNB), to see which one works better at reducing pain before spinal anesthesia in patients with hip fractures. The goal is to make patients more comfortable during their surgery and to help them need less pain medication afterward. The study will include about 60 adult patients who are scheduled for surgery to fix a hip fracture and will monitor their pain levels at different times, especially during positioning for the anesthesia and in the first 24 hours after surgery.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be at least 18 years old, be scheduled for surgery on a hip fracture, and be in relatively good health (American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status I, II, or III). They should also be able to understand how to rate their pain on a simple scale. However, individuals with certain health issues, such as bleeding disorders or severe heart and lung problems, won't be able to participate. Participants can expect to receive one of the two nerve blocks before their surgery, and the research team will track their pain management to see how effective each block is.
