ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how dry eye disease (DED) might affect the measurements taken before cataract surgery. These measurements are important because they help doctors choose the right artificial lens to implant in your eye, which is crucial for achieving clear vision after the surgery. The researchers want to find out if patients with dry eyes have less reliable measurements due to irregularities on the surface of their eyes. By understanding this connection better, they hope to improve how we prepare patients with dry eyes for surgery and ultimately enhance their visual outcomes.
If you are between the ages of 65 and 74 and are scheduled for cataract surgery, you might be eligible to participate in this trial. This includes individuals who are healthy but also those diagnosed with dry eye disease. However, if you are currently using preservative-free artificial tears or taking certain medications like antihistamines or antidepressants, you may not qualify for the study. Participants will undergo some tests to assess their eye measurements, which will help researchers gather valuable information about the impact of dry eye on cataract surgery outcomes.
