ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring whether taking a special blend of probiotics can help prevent diarrhea that sometimes occurs when patients receive antibiotics for community-acquired pneumonia, which is a type of lung infection. The study aims to see if these probiotics can make a difference in reducing this side effect, which can be uncomfortable and lead to additional health issues.
To participate in the trial, you need to be an adult at least 19 years old who has been diagnosed with community-acquired pneumonia and can take medicine by mouth. However, certain people won’t be eligible, such as those who are very elderly (80 years or older), those currently experiencing diarrhea, or those recently using probiotics or laxatives. If you join the trial, you can expect to take the probiotic mixture while being closely monitored to see how it affects your health during your treatment for pneumonia. The study is not yet recruiting participants, but it could offer valuable insights into managing antibiotic side effects in pneumonia patients.
