ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking to compare two different weight training methods to see which one is better for building muscle. The researchers believe that a new type of weight training will cause more muscle soreness, which can actually help muscles grow bigger and stronger. They also want to understand how muscle soreness affects everyday activities for those involved in the study.
To participate, you need to be a young adult aged between 18 and 35 and have some experience with weight training, specifically at least three months in the last five years. However, if you currently do chest press exercises at least once a week, or have any injuries in your shoulders, elbows, or wrists, you won't be able to join. Additionally, if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant soon, you would also be excluded. If you do join, you can expect to try out these different training methods and share your thoughts on how muscle soreness affects your daily life.

Eligibility criteria
- Inclusion Criteria:
- • Sixteen young adults (ages 18-35) will be enrolled in this study.
- • In order to be enrolled, they must have completed at least three months of resistance training in the past five years in order to minimize the learning effect and chance of injury.
- Exclusion Criteria:
- • Since regular resistance training reduces the primary outcomes, muscle damage and soreness, individuals who currently participate in chest press resistance training at least once per week will be excluded.
- • Individuals who have musculoskeletal injuries in the shoulder, elbow or wrist that preclude pain-free resistance training, or who have underlying uncontrolled cardiovascular complications will also be excluded.
- • Women who are pregnant, or may consider becoming pregnant over the subsequent 2 months, will be excluded
