ClinConnect Summary
This is a prospective, observational study (not a test of a treatment) looking at whether new MRI technology can non-invasively measure how well a liver transplant is functioning. The plan is to follow about 1,000 adults who have received a liver transplant to see if advanced MRI methods (diffusion-weighted, dynamic contrast-enhanced, and blood-oxygen level–dependent MRI) can give reliable information about graft health over up to five years. People are being invited to join, and the study is currently enrolling. It is led by Tongji Hospital in Wuhan, China, with Professor Zhen Li as the sponsor/investigator.
If you participate, you would be someone who has had a liver transplant and is planned for an MRI after surgery, between ages 18 and 80. You would need to be able to give informed consent and not have any MRI contraindications (such as certain implants, claustrophobia, or trouble holding your breath during scans). Before the MRI, you may need to fast for about 8 hours and drink fluids as instructed. Researchers will collect imaging data along with your clinical lab results and medical history to look for patterns that could help detect problems early and guide care in a non-invasive way. All information will be kept private and analyzed without identifying you. The study aims to improve how doctors assess graft function and support better outcomes for transplant patients.
