ClinConnect Summary

The BREMISS study, or Brain Resilience Minor Stroke Study, is a clinical trial designed to learn more about patients who have experienced a minor ischemic stroke. The goal is to gather important information that can help researchers understand how the brain responds to such strokes. If you or a loved one has had a stroke and is between the ages of 18 and 75, you might be eligible to participate in this study. To qualify, participants should have a mild stroke (with a specific scoring system rating their condition), have been followed by healthcare providers for more than four years, and be able to provide consent to join the trial.

Participants in the study will have the option to take part through a phone interview or an in-person meeting. If you choose the phone option, you will receive a saliva kit at home to collect a sample for further genetic testing, along with questionnaires to fill out. If you come in person, you’ll be able to provide a saliva sample and undergo a brain MRI, which is a type of scan that helps visualize the brain. The study aims to include around 1,000 people, and while it is not currently recruiting, it could be an opportunity to contribute to important research on stroke recovery and brain health.
