ClinConnect Summary
This study is an observational survey conducted in Egyptian universities to understand how pediatric dentistry educators feel about teaching and using dental amalgam (a silver-colored filling material) for primary teeth. It will ask educators to complete a questionnaire to measure two things: (1) whether they think amalgam should stay as part of teaching for both undergraduate and postgraduate students, and (2) their own experience and confidence in using amalgam for primary teeth. The researchers plan to enroll about 200 educators, and results will be collected over about one month.
Eligibility is limited to pediatric dentistry educators in Egyptian universities who have at least one year of teaching experience, are at least 20 years old, and are willing to complete the questionnaire. Administrative or non-teaching staff are not included. The study is led by Cairo University and does not involve patient treatment or testing; it is aimed at improving dental education. Data sharing of the study protocol is planned, and participants’ information would be used in a de-identified way. The study is currently enrolling by invitation (as of mid-2025), with no results yet available.
