ClinConnect Summary
This is an observational study (no treatment will be given) done at Haseki Training and Research Hospital in Istanbul. Researchers want to see how people’s thoughts and feelings about their erectile dysfunction (ED) relate to mood and to ED symptoms over time. They will follow about 120 adult men with ED, checking in with questionnaires at the start and again after 1 month to see how things change and whether negative beliefs about the illness are linked to more depressive symptoms or worse ED.
If you’re eligible, you’d need to be a man 18 or older diagnosed with ED by a clinician and willing to consent. Exclusions include a history of some serious psychiatric conditions, ongoing hormonal cancer treatment, or certain neurological problems. You’ll fill out three brief questionnaires at baseline and at 1 month: IIEF-5 to rate ED severity, B-IPQ to understand illness perceptions, and PHQ-9 to measure depressive symptoms. The study is designed to learn about psychological factors that may influence ED and mood, not to test a therapy. The study is led by Nazım Furkan Günay at Haseki Hospital, and results may be shared with researchers later under privacy protections.
