ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at a special program called Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) to see if it can help people who receive a kidney transplant from a living donor. The main goals are to find out if using ERAS can decrease the amount of strong pain medicine (like narcotics) that patients need after surgery and if it can help lower their pain levels overall. By comparing patients who follow this ERAS program with those who did not, researchers hope to learn more about how to make recovery easier and more comfortable.
To be part of this study, participants must be adults over 18 years old who are receiving a kidney from a living donor. If you join, you can expect to drink a special carbohydrate drink before surgery, take some medications to help with pain, and start walking with help about 12 hours after your operation. Throughout your recovery, the research team will check on your kidney health during follow-up visits to see how well you're doing. This trial is not yet recruiting participants, but it aims to help improve recovery for future kidney transplant patients.
